Johns Hopkins University Professor , alumnus of the School of Chemical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (entrance year 1976), was elected member of the USA National Academy of Engineering (螡螒螘).  He is a Bloomberg Distinguished Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics and in the School of Medicine鈥檚 Department of Urology.

Election to the 螡螒螘 is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer. His election citation reads "For research on multiscale mathematical modeling and scientific computation for complex, nonlinear reaction, and transport processes".

Professor Kevrekidis maintains close ties with NTUA through scientific collaborations but also with his contribution as a mentor to the academic development of NTUA graduates and, more broadly, Greek scientists at home and abroad.
