International Distinction for Students of NTUA - Gold Medal for "iGEM Athens 2021" team at the "IGEM Global Competition of Synthetic Biology"

The iGEM Athens team, consisted of students from the , the and the was awarded the Gold Medal at global of synthetic biology 2021, held online from 4-11 of November and concluded on 12-14 of November in Paris. More than 320 teams and 4,000 students from universities all over the world took part in the competition.

 

The team, consisted of seven students, presented their project "AdAPTED", which gives the solution to the problems of production of reagents used in PCR. The final product of the AdAPTED project, provides a cheap and ecological alternative for the production of these reagents and can be used for medical, research or educational purposes.

 

All the details regarding the work of iGEM Athens 2021 team are presented in the official website  , where all the criteria of the competition that were met for the gold category are analyzed.

It is worth mentioning the financial support by the School of Chemical Engineering NTUA, Pfizer Hellas, and the iGEM and Frederick Gardner Cottrell Foundations, which honored the team with the iGEM 2021 Team Impact Grant.
