At the , with Bulgaria as the honored country, the National Technical University of Athens invited the and a meeting and open event was organized at booth 14-AKADEMIA, on 10 September 2023.

The event was attended by members of the Rectorates of the two Universities, the Management of the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) of NTUA, professors and researchers from NTUA, ICCS and TU-Sofia. The Bulgarian delegation visited the NTUA and ICCS stands, followed by a visit to the corresponding Bulgarian stand.

The host Rector of NTUA Andreas Boudouvis and the Rector of TU-Sofia Ivan Kralov signed a cooperation agreement between the two Universities. The event honored with his presence the Ambassador of Greece to Bulgaria Mr. Marios Lyberopoulos and officials of the Embassy and the Ministry of the Interior - Sector of Macedonia and Thrace.

The discussion, with the two Rectors on the panel and the participants, covered a wide range of topics of interest to the two universities and suitable for their cooperation in research and education. Key topics of interest are energy 鈥� renewables, storage/batteries, electric vehicles 鈥� digital technology, cybersecurity, centers of excellence, competence centers, strengthening interdisciplinarity in engineering education with emphasis on the introduction of artificial intelligence, the present and the prospects of the European University alliances. Also discussed was the possibility of strengthening bilateral cooperation by taking advantage of the strong presence of Greek industrial groups in Bulgaria.

The Ambassador Mr. Lyberopoulos, the Vice Rectors E. Sapountzakis and D. Gintides, the Director of ICCS I. Psarras, the Director of Research A. Amditis and professors G. Matsopoulos and E. Hristoforou presented interesting proposals for bilateral cooperation, many of which can be included in the European support framework for research and educational actions.
