Intracom Telecom and NTUA Join Forces to Foster Innovation and Learning

Athens, Greece – 30 October 2023 - Intracom Telecom, a global telecommunication systems and solutions vendor, and the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the objective of utilizing both parties’ capabilities and resources to create innovation and learning opportunities.

 

Through this partnership, NTUA students and researchers will be having the opportunity to work closely with the Intracom Telecom’s scientists to develop a common field of cooperation where learning and creativity can thrive. More specifically, Intracom Telecom and NTUA have agreed to the following:

  • Sharing Knowledge: NTUA and Intracom Telecom will share ideas and knowledge, creating an environment where everyone can learn and grow. This initiative promotes information exchange in the ICT industry, emphasizing research, innovation, and collaboration. It aims to deepen understanding, foster industry connections, and transparently share research outcomes.
  • Hands-on Learning: NTUA students will have the opportunity to work as interns at Intracom Telecom's offices in Athens, Patra, and Thessaloniki for a period of six months. This hands-on experience will help them learn valuable skills for their future career.
  • Student ICT Research: Students will be encouraged during the elaboration of their diploma thesis to undertake subjects from the ICT fields. Together, the teams will explore interesting topics like Artificial Intelligence, Electrical Vehicle Charging, Telemedicine and many more. This research will help invent new things that can make people’s lives better.
  • Research Synergy: Cooperation with Research Laboratories of the University to further enhance the research projects and studies of both parties. Indicative examples include Horizon Europe or "ESPA Research - Innovate " Programs.
  • Supporting Graduates: NTUA’s Career Office will help students find job openings at Intracom Telecom. Furthermore, certain lectures and/or training programs will be designed and delivered to either party’s premises.

 

Andreas Boudouvis, NTUA Rector, mentioned: NTUA's cooperation agreement with Intracom Telecom has a multifaceted educational and research scope which also draws from the company’s distinguished position in the ICT industry. It is part of the NTUA's broader and systematic effort to support students and young researchers, to broaden their professional prospects and opportunities and to utilize their talent and abilities, thus contributing to the growth of the relevant Greek ecosystem that is, the effective interaction of university with industry and business. Internships for undergraduate students, research cooperation at doctoral and postdoctoral level and joint efforts in competitive research funding are key ingredients of our cooperation”.

In the MoU signing ceremony NTUA was represented by: Professor Andreas G. Boudouvis, Rector, the Vice Rectors Professors Ioannis Chatjigeorgiou and Drossos Gintides, Professor Panagiotis Tsanakas, Dean, School of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Professor Dimitrios Soundris, School of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
