Restoration of the Plastics Building in the NTUA Historical Complex
Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that the restoration work of the Plastics Building in the historical complex of NTUA on Patision Street has commenced. The work begins from the roof, following the study prepared by the NTUA Technical Service and approved by the Central Council of Modern Monuments of the Ministry of Culture.
The 400 sq m neoclassical building, whose historical use was auxiliary to the Building Averoff, was occupied for 25 years and was evacuated in the summer of 2024. Upon evacuation of the building, it was found that the entire building was in very poor condition due to the long-term occupation, while the false ceiling that covered the wooden structure of the roof was ready to collapse.
The building will be restored and will be fully functional and ready for its intended use.
Professor Ioannis Hadjigeorgiou
Rector, NTUA
